1. Who we are
Print & Pane is operated by George Schon trading as Print & Pane, a sole trader based in England, 21 Chester Rd, Poole, BH13 6DE, United Kingdom. You can contact us at .
2. What we sell
Print & Pane creates personalised art prints generated from a photograph you supply, using AI image generation technology, and delivered as a framed print, unframed print, or digital download. Portraits are produced using AI tools (including Google's Gemini models) rather than hand-drawn by an artist. We're upfront about this because we think the result speaks for itself — we're not going to pretend otherwise.
We currently sell to customers in the United Kingdom and the United States.
3. Placing an order
You upload one or more photographs of your subject, choose a style, size and frame option, and review your proof before it's printed. For framed and unframed prints, we generate your artwork after you've approved a preview. Payment is taken at checkout, before the final print file is produced.
4. Your photo — what you're allowed to submit
By uploading a photograph, you confirm that:
- you own the photo or have the right to use it (it's yours, or you have permission from whoever took it)
- if you're submitting a photo of a pet, house, or object, it doesn't need to (and shouldn't) include identifiable people's faces — we ask that you crop or select photos accordingly, since we don't want to process facial data we don't need to
- you won't upload anything illegal, offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights
We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order if a submitted photo doesn't meet these requirements.
5. Cancellation rights and personalised goods
Printed products
Every print is made from your own photograph, in the style, size and frame you chose — it can't be resold to anyone else. That is why the approval step exists: you see the finished artwork, to scale and in your chosen frame, before any money moves.
If you're buying in the United Kingdom: under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, regulation 28(1)(b), goods that are "made to the consumer's specifications or are clearly personalised" are exempt from the standard 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right. Every print falls squarely inside that exemption.
If you're buying in the United States: because each print is custom-made to your order, we don't accept change-of-mind returns or cancellations once you've approved your artwork. Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights under the law of your state that cannot be excluded by agreement.
Everywhere: this does not affect your rights if something is actually wrong. If your order arrives damaged, faulty, or not as described, you're entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund — in the UK under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and in the US under our own commitment in the Returns & Refunds Policy plus any non-excludable protections of your state.
Digital files
Different rule, and we'd rather be straight about it. For UK purchases, a digital file is digital content, not goods, and is covered by regulation 37 rather than regulation 28. That means we only lose the cancellation right on a digital file if, before we send it, you expressly consent to us supplying it straight away and acknowledge that doing so ends your right to cancel.
You'll be asked to tick both at the point of purchase. If we haven't asked you, you keep the right to cancel and you pay nothing for the file.
On top of your legal rights, we offer two things voluntarily, free of charge:
- Unlimited proof revisions before you approve the final artwork
- One free re-work after delivery if you're not happy with the likeness — we'll make you another — plus a free reprint if there's a genuine quality fault
6. Pricing, currency and payment
Prices are shown in the currency of the market you're buying in — pounds sterling in the United Kingdom, US dollars in the United States — and the price you see at checkout is the price you pay.
- UK orders: prices include VAT where applicable. Delivery, where charged, is shown on the product page and at checkout before you pay.
- US orders: prices are in US dollars and include delivery. We do not add US sales tax at checkout and do not currently collect it.
Payment is taken at the point of order via Shopify's checkout. Discounts, where offered, are applied at checkout — multi-print discounts automatically, and any published discount code when entered. Only one discount applies to an order; checkout applies whichever is better.
7. Delivery
Prints are made by our print partner at the production facility nearest to you — orders placed in the United Kingdom are printed and framed in the UK, and orders placed in the United States are printed and framed in the USA — then posted domestically with tracking. That's why there are no import charges and no border transit on top of your order.
Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout and in your order confirmation. Digital downloads are delivered via a secure, time-limited link sent by email.
8. Intellectual property
The prompt library, house styles, and generation process used to create your artwork are our trade secret and remain our property. You own the physical print or digital file you purchase, for personal use. You may not resell, redistribute, or use the artwork commercially without our written permission.
We can't guarantee that the artwork generated for you is unique — AI generation may produce similar outputs for other customers, and the legal position on copyright in AI-generated images is unsettled in both the UK and the US.
9. Limitation of liability
We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer — in the UK, your rights under UK law; in the US, any rights under the law of your state that cannot be excluded by agreement.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws of the place where you live — including, for US customers, any non-excludable rights under the laws of your state.

Your photos — privacy addendum

Retention periods here match the lifecycle rules on the storage bucket, set 6 Aug 2026 (Tasks/010826_11). They are enforced automatically, not by someone remembering — which is the only basis on which a retention claim should ever be published.
What we take. The photographs you upload, and the artwork made from them. Nothing else about the image — we don't run face recognition, and we ask you not to upload photographs of people.
Why. Solely to make your portrait and to print it. We do not use your photographs to train any model, we do not sell them, and we do not use them in our own marketing unless you have separately told us we may.
Who else sees them. Two processors, and only for the job:
- Google (Gemini) — your photograph is sent to Google's API to compose the artwork. We use a paid tier, under which Google does not use the content to train its models.
- Our storage (Cloudflare R2) and Prodigi, our print partner, which receives the finished artwork in order to print it. Prodigi receives the artwork, not your original photograph. For US orders, printing happens at Prodigi's US facility; for UK orders, in the UK.
Where they're kept. In a private bucket. Nothing is publicly readable — files are served only through short-lived links generated for a single purpose.
How long we keep them.
- Your photographs — 90 days. Deleted automatically 90 days after you upload them.
- The portraits you choose between — 30 days. Deleted automatically 30 days after they're made.
- Your finished artwork — 2 years. Kept so we can reprint it if something goes wrong, or if you ask us for another copy later.
These are automatic deletions, run by the storage service against the age of each file. Nothing depends on us remembering.
Deleting them sooner. Email and we'll delete your photographs and artwork before those dates.
If you never ordered. The same clocks apply — they run from when the files were made, not from an order. So a photograph uploaded just to see a preview is deleted 90 days later whether you bought anything or not.
Your rights. Access, correction, deletion, and to object. We offer these to every customer, wherever you are — email . UK customers have these rights under UK GDPR and can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk; US customers can ask us for the same access and deletion regardless of whether a state privacy law applies to a business of our size.
Children. The service isn't intended for under-18s.
